Why it matters

A four-tonne ambulance cannot reach the far side of the course

Golf clubs and large venues have invested in CPR training and defibrillators. The missing piece has always been what happens next: getting paramedics to a patient hundreds of metres from the nearest road, across fairways, rough and bridges, and getting the patient back to the ambulance, quickly and safely.

Medical Response Vehicle on a golf course cart path, ready to respond

Designed by a paramedic

Built for the realities of frontline patient care

Every detail was shaped by paramedic Michael Covey, General Manager of Shield Medical Training, to solve real problems on real sites. The patient deck loads from almost any angle without back strain. The spine board lives under the canopy, ready to deploy. An attendant seat keeps the responder beside the patient, maintaining eye contact and communication, so monitoring and CPR can continue on the move.

Cardiac arrest was only part of the brief. Heat stroke, snake bite, falls, allergic reactions and trauma injuries are all realities for anyone running a large outdoor site.

"This really is the final piece of the puzzle in managing cardiac arrests on a golf course."

Michael Covey, intensive care paramedic and General Manager, Shield Medical Training

Born from real need

An Australian answer to a problem every large site shares

After a tragic on-course medical incident at Cromer Golf Club, General Manager Melissa Ellis began a conversation with paramedic Michael Covey of Shield Medical Training. InGolf & Utility and Global Golf Cart Design then led twelve months of research and development in collaboration with Shield Medical Training, designing, building and testing the vehicle here in Australia for Cromer Golf Club, the first club to purchase it. It was in use within days of arriving, and it has been out on the course almost weekly since.

FAQ

Good questions.

Need more detail? Call 1300 123 448.

What is the Medical Response Vehicle?

A purpose-built first responder vehicle for golf courses and other large sites. It gets paramedics and first responders to a patient quickly, lets treatment begin straight away, and moves the patient to a waiting ambulance while CPR and monitoring continue.

Who designed it?

InGolf & Utility and Global Golf Cart Design led twelve months of research and development, in collaboration with Shield Medical Training and its General Manager, intensive care paramedic Michael Covey. The vehicle was designed, built and tested in Australia for Cromer Golf Club, the first golf club to purchase it.

What equipment comes with it?

An extended raised canopy, under-canopy spine board, 270° stainless steel patient deck, rear roller loading, covered equipment toolbox for a defibrillator and kits, attendant seating, three anchored patient seatbelts, lithium battery, independent emergency strobe and a full emergency response wrap. A first aid kit and a trauma kit are included as standard.

Where can it be used?

It was built for golf courses, and it suits any large site where a patient may be far from an access road: resorts, stadiums and sports fields, racecourses and motorsport circuits, festivals and city events, airports, shopping centres, universities and schools, aged care and retirement villages, and industrial sites.

How much does it cost?

The outright price is $45,000 + GST ($49,500 inc. GST). It is also available on an operating lease from $789.89 a month + GST over 72 months, $891.46 over 60 months or $994.55 over 48 months, and can be added to a golf fleet order or bought separately. Pricing is subject to change, including currency and manufacturer cost movements, and lease payments are subject to finance approval.

What vehicle is it built on?

Club Car's proven Carryall 300 (CA300) platform with a lithium battery, which makes it more than 100 kg lighter than a lead-acid equivalent, with longer range and faster charging.

Who services it?

InGolf & Utility services it under the same programme as your golf fleet, from our workshops in Campbelltown NSW and Dandenong South VIC and with mobile technicians across NSW, the ACT and Victoria. Genuine Club Car parts are available Australia-wide.
